State Auditor report shows Grady Officials overpaid
 On Monday, January 7, Gary Jones, Oklahoma State
Auditor and Inspector, presented the auditor’s findings
regarding the overpayment of salary’s to elected officials
of Grady County.
 The audit shows that over the past ten years going back
to July 2008 through August of 2018, local officials have
been over paid a total of $727,343.03.
 The audit was requested by Grady County District At-
torney Jason Hicks.
 The report’s Key Findings were that the Board of County Commissioners did
not set and approve the salaries for the elected officials of Grady County which
resulted in the elected county officials receiving a salary in excess of that allowed
by Oklahoma Statutes. Other issues in the report allege that three Grady County
Fairground Employees were paid a salary exceeding the maximum amount al-
lowed for elected officials.
 The problem arose when in 2008, county officials submitted their budget
requests through the County Clerk who forwarded the totals for each office to the
Excise Board. The Excise Board using information from the County Assessor on
ad valorem collections and valuations to determine expected funds available for

 Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series continues Jan. 31
 The Missouri Contemporary Ballet Company will perform in the Davis Hall
Little Theatre on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma campus Jan.
31 at 7:30 p.m. as the 18th season of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series
continues.
 A full company of professional dancers
will take the stage in “Intersections,” an
original performance created specifically
for MCB that was their season opener
last fall. This diverse celebration of
contemporary dance combines six unique
works by five choreographers, including
artistic/executive director Karen Mareck
Grundy and resident choreographer
Fernando Rodriguez. The work also
features choreography by artists from New
York, St. Louis and Chicago.
 Tickets are $15 for the general public;
$10 for students and seniors (60 and over); $5 for USAO faculty, staff and alumni.
